My Bio
Dr. Sjoerd Houwing has been researcher at SWOV, the Dutch Road Safety Institute, for 15 years and is currently senior product manager at CBR, the Dutch Driver License Agency. In 2013, he obtained his PhD on estimating the risk of driving under the influence of drugs, alcohol and medicines. Furthermore, he is a member of several working groups in the field of drink and drug driving.
His research interests include characteristics of drink driving offenders, trends in drink and drug driving prevalence, clinical signs of drug driving impairment, alcohol interlock programs and educational rehabilitation measures to decrease recidivism rates of drink and drug drivers. Furthermore, his personal objective as a board member is to stimulate the membership of young researchers and researchers from low and middle income countries.
