Become a Mentee

Our Mentorship Program is designed to support motivated professionals who want to grow, reflect, and take meaningful next steps in their career or professional journey. As a mentee, you will be matched with an experienced mentor who will support you through structured, confidential, and purpose‑driven conversations.

The program offers a safe and supportive space to explore your goals, challenges, and ambitions, while learning from someone with relevant experience and insight.

What Can You Expect as a Mentee?

As a mentee, you play an active role in shaping the mentoring relationship. Together with your mentor, you will:

  • Agree on goals, expectations, and practical arrangements such as meeting frequency and format
  • Participate in regular mentoring sessions over an agreed timeframe
  • Reflect on your professional goals, priorities, and development needs
  • Receive constructive feedback and encouragement
  • Gain insights from your mentor’s career experiences and lessons learned

Mentoring is not about receiving instructions or ready‑made answers. Instead, it focuses on dialogue, reflection, and exploring options that help you think more clearly and confidently about your path forward.

Areas You May Work On

Depending on your goals and interests, mentoring conversations may include:

  • Career development, transitions, and decision‑making
  • Research planning and project development
  • Funding applications and professional advocacy
  • Program design, implementation, and evaluation
  • Communication, networking, and presentation skills
  • Building confidence, clarity, and professional identity

Your mentor will help you reflect, ask better questions, and consider alternative perspectives—supporting you in identifying your own solutions and next steps.

What Are the Benefits of Being a Mentee?

As a mentee, you can expect to:

  • Gain greater clarity about your goals and direction
  • Develop professional skills and confidence
  • Learn from real‑world experience and honest reflection
  • Expand your professional perspective and network
  • Build self‑awareness and resilience

Many mentees find that the mentoring relationship supports both immediate challenges and long‑term professional growth.

Your Role and Responsibilities

To make the most of the program, mentees are expected to:

  • Prepare for meetings and reflect on their goals and progress
  • Communicate openly and respectfully with their mentor
  • Take ownership of their learning and development
  • Respect agreed boundaries and confidentiality

Please note that mentors do not provide financial support, academic supervision, or professional services such as therapeutic or psychological advice. Keeping clear boundaries ensures a safe, ethical, and productive mentoring experience.
